Crawlspace Screening

Last night we had our first screening of Crawlspace at an amazing theater at UTA (my agency).  It was the first time ANYONE had ever seen the film.

I was really happy with the turn-out and the response.  It's always a little nerve-racking to put a new piece of work out there, especially in front of the people who trusted you with their performances and hard work, but I'm really proud of the finished product.

We had lots of screams and people hiding their eyes during the kills scenes, and a surprising amount of laughs during some of the movie's lighter moments (scenes that I thought might play with just a smile on the viewer's face, but got received a genuine reaction).

It was an exciting night and I can't wait to get it out there for everybody to see.

UPDATE #29:   Here are a few more cool items for the giveaway:

First up, is a Puma shirt from my little movie, "Kids in America" that was screen worn by Gregory Smith.  Check it out:

Still from the set:

UPDATE #28:  I went to my kids' school silent auction and picked this up from the event.  It's a script for the show GCB that is hand-signed by writer Robert Harling, the director (and my buddy) Victor Nelli, Jr., and a bunch of the stars of the show including Leslie Bibb, Jennifer Aspen (who is lovely, lovely, lovely), Marisol Nichols, Miriam Shor, Kristin Chenoweth, and Annie Potts.

UPDATE #27:  Here's a hand-signed DVD for Saw II.  Signed by the director, Darren Bousman.  It's up and available in the giveaway as well.

UPDATE #26:  From Jonathan Silverman and Jennifer Finnigan... two of my favorite people in the world (and they were both a blast to work with on Conception).

I have doubles of about half of these photographs.  Not all of them though.

All of these shots are 8x10s.  The first one is one of my favorite stills of them from Conception:

This is a publicity shot from one of Jen's shows:

Another still of Jen from Conception:

A still from Jonny from Conception:

A publicity shot of Finnigan:

Another still of Jonny from Conception:

A publicity shot from Weekend at Bernies:

Last, but certainly not least, another still of Jen from Conception:

Lastly, I have two signed DVDs for Jen and Jonny.  The first one is the complete season one of the Starz show "Head Case", which both Jonny and Jen had guest stars on.

And perhaps the most awesome item on this entire page... A signed copy of Weekend at Bernie's 2.  Yes, 2!!!!!!  :-)

UPDATE #25:  Spent the day doing ADR for Crawlspace with Lori Loughlin and Jonny Silverman.  So... of course, I bring gifts.

Here are two 8x10s of the incredibly beautiful and amazingly talented Lori Loughlin.  I have two copies of each of these photos for the giveaway.

Here you go...

UPDATE #24:  Hey gang.  Here are a few new giveaway items.

First up, I've got two DVD copies of my first film, Kids in America.  I will have them signed by the two stars of the film, Gregory Smith (who also is in Conception) and Stephanie Sherrin (who produced Conception).

Next, I have two hand-signed 8x10 shots of Paul James (of Greek) who plays Derek in my upcoming film, Crawlspace.

Finally, I have four different 8x10 shots of actor and comedian Dave Koechner (of Anchorman and... Piranha 3DD).  He worked for a day on Crawlspace and is amazing!  One of my favorite kill scenes in the movie.  I had him sign a few photos from his different films.  I have two each of these images for the giveaway...

UPDATE #23:   These first three are 8x10s from the actor who plays the role of Shane in Crawlspace.  His name is Sterling Beaumon and he's one of the most talented young actors out there.  And a super nice kid.  Sterling was also one of the leads in the recent television adaptation of Clue and also played Young Ben on Lost.  He's the kind of actor who was up for ANYTHING... "Hey, Sterling, will you jump off the ledge of the pool and ride down this drained, empty pool on a skateboard?"  "SURE."  "Hey, Sterling, take this punch from the bad guy half-speed so you don't get hurt falling down on the concrete floor."  CUT TO: Sterling flying through the air and falling flat on his back FULL SPEED to make sure the take looked good.  He's GREAT.  I have two copies of each of these photos:

The star of Crawlspace (the "Final Girl") is an incredible new actress named Raleigh Holmes.  She's seriously talented and I can't wait to show everybody how awesome she is.  She's got a killer scream, an amazing voice (she's the lead singer for a group called "The Scarlet Furies"), and Crawlspace is one of her first movies.  I can't wait to be able to say, "I discovered her" when she's accepting an Oscar one day.  Or a Grammy.  Anyway, Raleigh brought me a couple of 5x7s that she signed.  I only one one copy of each of these, but I'll get a few Crawlspace stills signed when we get them cleared.

Here you go:

UPDATE #21:  Okay, I have some new items for the giveaway.  This batch has a few great stuff for the horror fans out there.

First up, though, are T-shirts from the Good Luck Chuck promo campaign.  Chuck was the first studio film I had made.  I have a half-dozen shirts in different sizes.  They all say "Chuck Buddy" on the front.  Special thanks to the director, Mark Helfrich, for hooking me up with these.  Mark has an item on this list as well, the signed copy of "Naked Pictures of my Ex-Girlfriends" (below).

Next up is an item that I wouldn't give away if I didn't have two copies.  It's a hand-signed copy of the coffee table book "Monsters in the Movies: 100 Years of Cinematic Nightmares".  It's hand-signed by the author, John Landis.  If you don't know who John Landis is, you need to brush up on your horror directors.  Fun book to flip through.

And here's a close-up of the autograph:

Next up, a poster from one of my favorite indie horror movies of all time, HARD CANDY.  The full-sized poster is hand-signed by the director, David Slade.  If you haven't seen Hard Candy, it's a must see. Ellen Page is amazing in it.  As is Patrick Wilson.  Very jealous that Slade made this.  Very cool film.

And a close-up of the signature:

Last, but certainly not least, is a mini-poster for the fun cult film HATCHET II.  LOVE this movie.  So much fun.  The poster has a dozen or so autographs on it and I don't know who is who, but I can tell you that the top right signature is that of the director, Adam Green.  Maybe Mr. Green can shed some light on some of the other signatures.  Adam?

ADDED NOTE:  I just heard back from Adam and he said some of the other autographs on the poster are:

RA Mihailoff, Rileah Vanderbilt, Tom Holland, Kane Hodder, Robert Pendergraft, Parry Shen, Dave Foy, Ed Ackerman, and of course... Adam Green.

UPDATE #20:  Here are a few more movie props up for grabs.

First, and least interesting is... a wiffle ball.  It's a ball used in a scene with Jonathan Silverman, Lori Loughlin and Raleigh Holmes in my new film Crawlspace.

Okay, I know, not too exciting.  It'll probably be one of the last things to go.  What if I told you it was used in a kill scene?

It's not, but what if I TOLD you it was?

Next up, a little companion piece to the Lori Loughlin glove I posted last week.  This is the glove used and worn by Raleigh Holmes in the same scene in Crawlspace.  This also happens to be my high school glove from when I played ball when I was a kid.  But since no one cares about that... it's a prop from Crawlspace.

The last one is a costume piece from my first film, called "Kids in America".  It was the hero jacket worn by the star of the film, Stephanie Sherrin, who also happens to be a producer on our film Conception.  It's the only one that was used and it can be yours.  It's actually a REALLY cool jacket.  Here it is:

Here's a still from the movie:

UPDATE #19:  For the Sorority Row fans out there, I have a few new items for the giveaway.

First up is an advertising item from the Sorority Row release.  They are "Theta Pi or Die" key-chains with bottle opener attached.  I have three of these little guys.

Next up are two SCREEN-USED PROPS from Sorority Row.  The red one was the cell phone used by the character of Claire and played by the lovely Jamie Chung.  The blue one was a cell phone used by the character of Andy, played by Julian Morris.

These are both the actual props used in the film.

UPDATE #18:  Well, I saw Briana Evigan today (the star of Sorority Row) and she very graciously provided me with a bunch hand-signed items.  She's amazing.  Super sweet.  Really talented.  And unbelievably beautiful.  All of this stuff is up for grabs in the giveaway.  All free.

First up, are three movies that Briana signed.  The Blurays for both S. Darko and Sorority Row.  And a DVD for Sorority Row as well.

Next up, I had Briana sign the same poster that Leah Pipes signed for me a couple of weeks ago.  Here it is...

Here's another foreign poster (different from the Leah one, but I pictured it before).  Briana signed it.  It's a Spanish language poster for Sorority Row (retitled Pacto Secreto).

This is a close up of the signature from the poster:

Aside from the posters and the discs, Briana signed a few 8x10 photographs.

The following bunch are studio shots (meaning that they aren't originals).  I have two copies of all of them but the third one:

Here's a shot from Briana's Step Up film.  It's also a studio shot and I have two copies:

These last few shots are from my personal collection of shots I took behind the scenes on the set it Pittsburgh.  They are originals and not available anyplace else.  Just like the others, they are all hand-signed by Briana Evigan and I have two copies of each.

I'll see if I can get Rumer to also sign this first one:

UPDATE #17:  So sorry for the delay.  Been locking picture on Crawlspace and going a little crazy.  Starting sound design this week.  Fun!

Here are a couple of signed photos from Pamela Adlon, who was in Conception.  Pamela is an incredible actress.  Not only is she amazing on Californication, but she's the voice of Bobby on King of the Hill... and one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Here are a couple of hand-signed 8x10s.  The Conception photos are sort of double signed as she did them first in black ink and then rewrote them with metallic.  I have two from Conception and two from Californication (so the signatures are slightly different on both).

UPDATE #16:  As I wait for more of the signed DVDs from our cast, here are a few more items for the drawing.  First up, the first prop from my upcoming film, CRAWLSPACE.  This is a baseball glove used by Lori Loughlin in one of the scenes in the film.  It's screen used and yours if you want it.  Most of the crawlspace stuff I have will be saved for the release of the movie but thought I'd throw in this one thing now.

Since my blog is mostly for screenwriters and filmmakers, I thought I'd throw in a few scripts.  They include The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, I Heart Huckabees, Seabiscuit, Win Win, Sideways, The Descendants, Pieces of April and Love Actually.

UPDATE #15:  As promised, here's another item.  I don't know who has VCR's anymore, but this is a VHS of "Buck Rogers in the 26th Century" signed by Buck Rogers himself, Gil Gerard, and my teen fantasy, Erin Gray.  Signed at Comic Con.  If you know any Sci-Fi nerds, this could make the perfect gift (or if you're a nerd like me).

UPDATE #14:  Hey gang... here are a couple new items for the Conception Giveaway.

First up, somebody on Twitter was asking about something from Jerry O'Connell.  Here's a photo from Piranha 3D with an attached hand-signed autograph.

Next up, a screen worn Sorority Girl shirt from "Sorority Row".

Lastly, I wanted to clarify one of the earlier items.  The limited edition Piranha 3D "Chirashi" Japanese mini-poster (7 inches by 10 inches), it actually has TWO sides to it.  One side is pictured below.  The other side looks like this:

UPDATE #13:  Here are a couple of new items for the Conception giveaway.

First up, is a Jackie Chan autographed copy of his book, "I Am Jackie Chan: My Life in Action".  It's a hardcover copy that I had him sign it myself when I met him.  The paper cover is a little beaten up (I've read it a couple of times), but the inside is pristine.  I'm a HUGE Jackie Chan fan; I'm obsessed with the Drunken Master II, and the Police Story series.  Also loved Project A, Part II.  This is a great gift for any Jackie Chan fan.

Next up is a copy of Mark Helfrich's book, "Naked Pictures of my Ex-Girlfriends", hand-signed and personalized from Mark.  Helfrich directed Good Luck Chuck and is a great guy.  And he put out this very funny (and dirty) photo book.  If you're under 18, I'm going to need a parent's permission to ship this one out to you.  :-)

UPDATE #12:  Okay, I'm finally back.  Turned in my Paramount draft for Hasbro and I will be doing a bunch of uploads with week with new free gifts for the contest.  Here's a quick one.

This was used as publicity from Summit for the release of Sorority Row.  And it can be all yours...

UPDATE #11:  Hey gang.  Just got back from a day of pick-up shots for my new film, Crawlspace.  Skeleton crew.  All inserts and special effects stuff.  My first time using a green screen.  FUN!

Anyway, wanted to post up the shots of Pilar's autographed copies for the writers out there.

Photos of the outside of the items below in Update #10...

UPDATE #10:  So here are a couple of items for the screenwriters out there!  And another item for the Piranha 3D folks.

One of my oldest friends in Los Angeles also happens to be an amazing screenwriting coach.  Her name is Pilar Alessandra and she runs a company called "On The Page" where she does seminars on screenwriting and even breaks down scripts for people gives them notes.  She also has a fantastic podcast about screenwriting that I've guested on a couple of times.  She's helped me on a bunch of my work.

The first item is Pilar's book, "The Coffee Break Screenwriter" and it focuses on how you can write a script "ten minutes at a time".  You'll even find a little blurb from me in there.  The book is hand-signed by Pilar.

The second item is the "On The Page" DVD.  It's a great video lesson about writing and includes chapters like, "Brainstorming the Idea" and "Outlining the Beats".  Pilar has assembled a bunch of her exercises in this one DVD.  This, too, is hand-signed by Pilar.

If you're a screenwriter, you want these.  And if you know a screenwriter, they would make nice gifts.

NOTE: These are my copies!!!  I'll put up the Pilar ones when she sends me the autographed copies.

The last item for the day is a very limited Piranha 3D "Chirashi" Japanese mini-poster.  It's about 7 inches by 10 inches.  I have three of them and I'm going to give one of them away.  I'm happy to sign it (with co-writer Pete Goldfinger) if you want, or you can have it clean.  I love this thing...

UPDATE #9:  Here are a couple new autographed items for the Conception giveaway.

First up, is a DVD of the Rob Zombie movie "House of 1000 Corpses", signed by one of the stars of the film, Jen Jostyn (who is also one of the stars of "Conception").  If you haven't seen this film yet, and you're a horror fan, you HAVE to.  It's crazy.  I have four copies just like this, so when one goes, you can always get another one.  I know a few more people involved with the film, so if I run into them, I'll ask them to sign as well.

Next up, in a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT direction, is the indie favorite "The Brothers McMullen".  This is a Blu-Ray Disc and part of the Filmmakers Signature Series.  It is also hand-signed by one of the stars of McMullen and Conception, Jen Jostyn.  Connie Britton is also one of the stars and she will sign the copy as well the next time I see her.  This is a really great movie and if you're a fan of indie filmmaking it's a must see.

Just a note, the Ed Burns signature on the cover is part of the Disc artwork and not hand-signed... but hey, you never know, maybe Eddie will hook a brother up.  Also, I picked up four copies of this film also, so there will be extras if you miss the first drawing.

That's it for now.  More to come...

UPDATE #8:  Okay, here are a couple of small items to add to the mix.  A few bigger items up for tomorrow...

First, here's an trailer for my film "Kids in America".  If you have a 35mm projector, you can play it.  If not, you can own a small piece of movie history (not because it's my movie, but because trailers are going the way of the cassette tape with things all moving toward digital).

A little trinket item up for grabs is this button/pin from way back in 1997.  It was a publicity thing for "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show" which was my FIRST writing job in Hollywood.  It was a fun show to work on.  The button has the show's four leads on it, Peter Scolari, Barbara Alyn Woods, Hillary Tuck and Thomas Dekker (when he was a little kid).  I wrote two episodes of the show a LONG time ago ("Honey, I'm Haunted" and "Honey, I'm in the Mood for Love").

UPDATE #7:  Here's a bunch of great Sarah Hyland and Matt Prokop stuff.

So, Sarah and Matt were two of only a few actors in the film that I hadn't worked with before and I have to say they were wonderful.  To have them working together (when they were already a couple) was really a treat and they brought so much to the scene.  In one of the interviews posted online somewhere, I talked about how amazed I was with Sarah's ability to cry and have the tear run down her cheek and hold on the tip of her nose at the same time every take.  It was awesome.  If you saw these two together, you'd realize how perfect they are for each other.  Anyway, here's some fun autographed stuff for the giveaway...

First up, a hand signed, in silver DVD of High School Musical 3 (that Matt was in).

This is one of my favorite shots from the Behind the Scenes Footage.  It's Matt and Sarah, relaxing between takes.  That's Noah Rosenthal, our D.P. on the left in the hat.  I have two of these shots available for the Giveaway.

This following item is a screen used prop from my film Conception.  It was used as part of the end credits.  It has been hand-signed by Matt and Sarah on the frame itself.

A still of Matt from the film.

Another still from the film.  All of these shots are a little blurry because I took them with my cell phone to put them up (they are all in focus in real life)... on this one Matt wrote "I hope the condom doesn't break".

This is the screen shot from before, but with a peace sign instead of a camera icon.

And here are a few more hand-signed stills from the film...

UPDATE #6:  More stuff.  And these include some DVD seasons of one of my all-time favorite shows.  All autographed.

Connie Britton is amazing.  She was the heart and soul of Friday Night Lights, which I consider to be one of the best TV shows in the last decade.  She was fantastic in American Horror Story.  And I think she's pretty darn good in our little film, too.  Here's some stuff that I asked her to autograph for our giveaway.

First, here are four complete season DVDs.  We've got Friday Night Lights, the first season, the second season, and the fifth and final season.  All hand-signed by Connie herself.  I'm also throwing in a DVD set of the third season of Spin City (also hand-signed by Connie).

On top of the signed DVDs, I also have two stills from our film, Conception, as well as one Friday Night Lights promotional shot.  They are all signed by Connie Britton.

UPDATE #5:  Here's a new cool item:

Up for grabs is a copy of the new Scarlet Furies Live CD entitled Bury Me in Symmetry.  It's great music, but that's not the reason it's here.  The lead singer of the group is Raleigh Holmes, who just happens to be the lead ("The Final Girl") in my new horror-thriller film "Crawlspace".  Raleigh has an amazing singing voice and a KILLER scream (just you wait!).  This CD is mine, but if you'd like this item, I'll have Raleigh sign and personalize one for you.  Believe me, this girl is amazing and she's going to be HUGE one day.

UPDATE #4:  Here's another item up for grabs:

This is a screen worn Wild Wild Girls T-shirt from the film Piranha 3D.  Here is a photo of the shirt, front and back.  The front says "Dying to Get Wet" and the back says, "Wild Wild Girls".  It's ripped up a bit (it was used in the wet t-shirt contest that Eli Roth was hosting on the boat).  The costume tag, still on it, says that it was for "MYRNA" (I'm not sure if that was an actresses name or a character for one of the girls.  Either way, here it is...

UPDATE #3:  Here are a few more items for the giveaway:

The first up is a poster of Piranha 3D.  It's the "teaser" poster (the first poster released).  You can either have it clean, or I can sign it with co-writer Pete Goldfinger.  Either way is fine.  And if it's signed, we'll personalize it any way you like.

Second up, is another VERY RARE poster from Sorority Row.  This one, like the Leah Pipes one below, is called PACTO SECRETO but it's a different version of the poster.  Once again, you can have this one clean, or autographed.  And to sweeten the pot, if anyone wants, I'll ask Briana Evigan to sign this one as well.  So any way you want it.  It's unsigned now so I can personalize it any way you want.

Next up are two crew hats from Twilight.  They are very hard to find as they aren't consumer editions.  These are limited edition hats that were only given to the cast and crew who worked on the film.  One is from Twilight: Eclipse and you can see it says "Vancouver '09" on the back of the hat (which is where it was shot).  The other is from Twilight: New Moon and it says "Italy 2009" on the back of the hat.  This can make a special gift for any Twilight fanatic you might know.

That's it for now.  More coming tomorrow.

UPDATE #2:  So I just dropped off a bunch of stuff for Connie Britton to sign.  Will get it back tomorrow and post pictures.  But in the meantime, here are a couple of new items in the giveaway.

These are two screen-worn items from Piranha 3D, both from actress and adult star Riley Steele.  They are her earrings and her bracelet that she wore in several scenes (pictures included).  Thanks for helping us get the word out about our little film!!!!

UPDATE #1:   Okay, so I had lunch with Leah Pipes today.  She's one of the leads in "Conception" (her scene was with Aaron Ashmore).  She was also one of the stars of "Sorority Row" (she was amazing as Jessica, the queen bitch of the sorority).  She was one of the leads of last year's "The Deep End".  She was also the lead of the horror film "Fingerprints".  She got her start on the show "Lost at Home".

So I picked up a few items for the Giveaway.

The first is a signed prop from the film (that I might get Aaron to sign as well).  It was used in the closing credits of the film.

Next up, are three hand-signed stills from Conception, the movie.  Again, I might also get the ones with Aaron signed as well.  They are all 8x10 glossy stills.

Next up, are three more 8x10 photos.  These are all behind the scenes shots from Sorority Row.  They are all one-of-a-kind.  I took the photographs.  They aren't available anywhere else.  As a matter of fact, no one has ever even seen these shots.

Lastly, signed by Leah, I have a foreign poster from Sorority Row.  It's a regular sized poster.  I think it's Spanish, but who the hell knows.  I can guarantee, without a doubt, this is the only one in existence that is signed by Leah (she had never seen it before).  It's actually pretty funny because they got the names wrong on the poster (of the four names listed on the top, one of them only had a cameo in the film).  Here it is (retitled PACTO SECRETO):
